Tater Tops 2009!

Good morning, TV fans!

Today we get mad as hell, and we’re not going to take it anymore. Yep, it’s time for the Moment That Made You Want to Throw Out Your TV category of Tater Tops, and Moment’s new little buddy, Sex Scene That Made You to Throw Out Your TV. There were so many nominations for “sex scene from Show X where the fans got screwed” that we thought it best to give all those moments a special subcategory.

If you are feeling cantankerous about TV and want to get your
protest on, this is the place! What are we cranking about? Read on to
find out!

Warning: Inside the jump you will encounter spoilers for the following shows: Bones, Friday Night Lights, Gossip Girl, Grey’s Anatomy, Heroes, House, Lost, Private Practice, Prison Break and Supernatural.

If you have a high spoiler sensitivity and haven’t finished watching the entire seasons of those shows, y’all best get back!

Tater Tops 2009: TV Out the Window Moments: Moment That Made You Want to Throw Out Your TV

Sylar murders Elle, Heroes – 26.3%
Michael Scofield dies, Prison Break 14.8%
Dillon High fires Coach Taylor, Friday Night Lights 9.2%
Juliet gives up, Lost 31.6%
Violet undergoes a psycho C-section, Private Practice 18.1%

We lost a number of wonderful shows this year, but based on your emails, these are the five most lamented losses:

• “Beets, bears, Battlestar Galactica.”

• ER, the medical drama that reliably entertained us every Thursday at 10 p.m. for 15 years

• Prison Break, a show that (let’s not kid ourselves) was some of the craziest TV anywhere, but which also featured shirtless, tattooed Wentworth Miller…

• Life, starring Damian Lewis and Sarah Shahi, a contemporary cop drama retold in Zen-vision

• Pushing Daisies, which…um, would you excuse us for a moment? No…no, it’s OK. We’re just going to listen to “Morning Has Broken” on repeat until the crying jag ends, and then we’ll be fine. Really. [Sniffle.]
# Show You’ll Miss the Most

Yesterday we decided which Show We’ll Miss the Most,
and today we shift the spotlight slightly to the left to focus on stars
we’ll miss the most, some from shows that have gone to the great DVD
shelf in the sky and some stars who have simply signed off of their
ongoing shows for the very last time. The five nominees for Star You’ll
Miss the Most are:

• Hilarie Burton, One Tree Hill’s P. Sawyer, who drove off into the sunset for a long-awaited happy ending with Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray)

• Summer Glau as Cameron, Terminator’s comely cyborg with a nuclear-fueled heart of gold

• Wentworth Miller, whose Michael Scofield was the breakout leading man of Fox’s Prison Break

• Elizabeth Mitchell as the beautiful, brilliant, brave and doomed Dr. Juliet Burke on Lost

• Nicollette Sheridan, the Desperate Housewives star whom executive producer Marc Cherry called “a throwback kinda dame”
